A dream come true

A dream come true

If you have ever taken classes with me you’ve heard me talking about Edwin Bryant. The philosophical contents of my course are based on his teachings. Even his way of teaching has inspired my teaching method.

It all started in 2022. I was scrolling on Instagram and I saw an advertisement of a guy wearing a shirt that said “Don’t be afraid of Sanskrit”. I was instantly captivated.

I got his Yoga Sutras course and his classes replaced Netflix in my life. Every Friday night I would watch one of his 3 hours class feeling that we were in the same room, laughing at his jokes, feeling deeply moved by his devotion.

I found his website and discovered so many other courses! for free! So I took a habit of practicing svadhyaya with him. I learnt about so many sacred texts which are not as popular as the Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita.

I bought his Yoga Sutras book and started dreaming of translating it into Spanish. I started to share this idea with students and colleagues.

One morning, out of the blue*, Ani, who coordinates a well-known studio in Mar del Plata contacted me and asked me if I was interested in translating Edwin Bryant during a workshop about the Yoga Sutras.

She also told me that there was a possibility of having to cancel the event due to the economic situation in Argentina, so even though I was bursting with joy I had to keep my expectations low.

Anyways, the workshop happened with more than 30 attendees and even though I was a bit nervous I’m very happy of the job I did translating his knowledge on the Yoga Sutras and also his devotion.

I invite you to check out his website and I hope you can learn from him as much as I do.

Lots of love!

Amalia
